Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some common questions about Math Circle. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email us at contact@mathcircle.us.

We ask that every student complete Algebra I before coming to Math Circle, and we recommend that applicants also take Geometry. This is because a certain math foundation is necessary to understand the advanced topics presented during the program. However, after a basic proficiency, most students are on equal footing and will not have seen material like what we cover.
Other than a basic proficiency in algebra, what we're looking for is passion for math, not necessarily ability. We find that we have students of many ability levels at Math Circle, but all share a love of mathematics.
We accept rising 9th through 12th graders; that is, students who will be entering 9th through 12th grade in the fall after the program. We do not accept graduating seniors; however, we do accept some exceptional 8th graders to the program.
Yes! We offer boarding at both the LSU Math Circle and the QuanTM Math Circle, and regularly accept students from around the world.
We send acceptances at the latest by mid-April. If you need an admissions decision sooner, please let us know.
